💼 Connecting Slack (Direct Messages & Channels)

Shrimp Check supports two ways to receive posture checks on Slack: Direct Messages (DMs) via your Slack User ID, or Channel Webhooks for team channels.

Method 1: Direct Messages (Recommended)

1. Click Add to Slack above to authorize the Shrimp Check app for your workspace.
2. Open Slack, click your profile picture, and click Profile.
3. Click the Three Dots (...) button and select Copy Member ID (starts with U or W, e.g. U12345678).
4. Paste your Member ID into the Slack endpoint field on your Shrimp Check Profile and click Add Channel.

Method 2: Incoming Webhooks (For Team Channels)

1. Open api.slack.com/apps and click Create New App → From scratch (or use Slack App Directory).
2. In the left sidebar, click Incoming Webhooks and toggle On.
3. Click Add New Webhook to Workspace, select your channel (e.g. #posture-checks), and click Allow.
4. Copy the Webhook URL (starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/...) and paste it into your Shrimp Check Profile.

💡 Tagging a User in a Channel: Want the webhook to post to a shared channel but ping you specifically? Append your Member ID with a pipe (|) after the Webhook URL: https://hooks.slack.com/services/...|U12345678.

🔔 Browser & Device Push Notifications

Web Push delivers instant posture alerts right to your desktop or mobile OS notification tray.

Setting up on Desktop (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari):

Simply navigate to your Profile and click the “🔔 Enable push on this device” button. Grant permission when prompted by your browser.

Setting up on Mobile (iOS / Android):

• iOS (iPhone/iPad): Open Shrimp Check in Safari, tap the Share button, and tap Add to Home Screen. Open the app from your home screen, then tap “Enable push on this device”.
• Android: Open Shrimp Check in Chrome, tap “Enable push on this device” and approve notification permissions.

Multiple Devices: You can enable push on as many devices as you like! Each browser/device generates its own unique subscription channel.

🔔 ntfy.sh (Lightweight Mobile & Desktop Push)

ntfy.sh is a free, open-source HTTP-based pub/sub notification service.

1. Install the free ntfy app on iOS or Android (or open ntfy.sh in your browser).
2. Create or choose a unique secret topic name (e.g. shrimp-check-user-99823).
3. Subscribe to that topic in your ntfy app.
4. Enter the exact topic name into the ntfy endpoint field on Shrimp Check.

🔗 Generic Webhook (Home Assistant, Zapier, Custom Servers)

Trigger smart light flashes, desk height adjustments, or custom scripts when a posture check fires.

Enter any valid https:// URL endpoint. Shrimp Check will send HTTP POST requests with a JSON payload containing:

📞 Dial-a-Shrimp (Friend Dials)

Dial-a-Shrimp lets you fire a posture check at a consenting friend right now.

• Mutual Consent: You must create an invite link from your dashboard and have your friend accept it before you can dial each other.
• Rate Caps: Each user has a hard cap of 3 dials per friend per day to keep it fun and prevent spam.
• Mute Wins: If a friend has paused notifications or enabled quiet hours, their local mute always takes precedence.

🚨 Squads & Squad Raids

Create a squad with your co-workers or gaming group to hold each other accountable.

• Squad Invites: Share your squad's unique 6-character invite code so others can join.
• Squad Raids: Hitting the “🚨 Raid Squad” button fires an immediate, simultaneous posture audit to every unmuted member of the squad.
• Quorum Streaks: Squad streaks are scored daily when a majority of members complete their posture checks.

⚡ Intensity & Timing

Configure how frequently surprise checks occur from your Profile Settings page:

• Chill: 1 to 2 surprise checks per day.
• Regular: 3 to 5 surprise checks per day.
• Drill Sergeant: 6 to 10 surprise checks per day.

🔁 Follow-up Nudges

If you leave a posture check un-answered, follow-ups keep you honest:

• Off: No follow-up nudges sent.
• Gentle: Sends one gentle reminder nudge after your grace period expires.
• Persistent: Escalates follow-ups to secondary connected channels if ignored.

🧠 Adaptive Slouch Learning

When The shrimp learns is enabled in Settings, Shrimp Check analyzes the hours of the day when you most frequently log shrimping answers, and automatically increases the probability of surprise checks during those specific slouch hours.

🎭 Persona Voices

Choose the tone and voice of your posture auditor:

• The Shrimp (Classic): Original meme-grade, lightly menacing reminders.
• Gentle Coach: Warm, supportive, and patient posture check-ins.
• Drill Sergeant: Loud, authoritative, non-negotiable posture orders.
• Passive-Aggressive Roommate: Sarcastic, guilt-tripping slouch comments.
• Eldritch Shrimp: Cosmic horrors from the abyssal trench inspecting your neck angle.

🧘 Uncurls & Amnesty

Uncurls: After you answer a check — either way — you’re offered an optional 20-second movement. Both answers get the same offer and it’s worth the same either way, so confessing never costs you more than sitting up did. Declining changes nothing at all.

Amnesty Checks: Some checks trigger an “Honesty Amnesty”: acknowledging that you were shrimping still earns full streak credit as long as you answer truthfully and adjust!
